Top Foods to Boost Your Immune System During Chemotherapy
I’m so excited to share some of the top foods to boost your immune system during chemotherapy. In fact, did you know that chemotherapy significantly weakens the immune system by reducing the production of white blood cells in the bone marrow, making it harder for the body to fight infections? This is primarily due to the direct damage chemotherapy drugs inflict on immune cells, leaving individuals more susceptible to infections during treatment.Â
However, did you know that there’s a comprehensive list of foods that will help support a healthy immune system while undergoing chemotherapy? Here are some of my favorite nutrient-rich options:

- Berries (Blueberries, Strawberries): Packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals.
- Leafy Greens (Spinach, Kale): Rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as folate and fiber.
- Broccoli: Contains vitamin C, antioxidants, and sulforaphane, which may support immune health.
- Carrots and Sweet Potatoes: High in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A, essential for a strong immune system.

Protein Sources
- Lean Poultry (Chicken, Turkey): High in zinc and protein to support tissue repair and white blood cell production.
- Eggs: Provide protein and nutrients like selenium and vitamin D.
